A bit about C. Peter Wagner's influence

From Talia Lavin's Wild Faith, Chapter 3: Prophets in the Parlor:

From the wellspring of the charismatic and Pentecostal movements has grown a more directed and explicitly political project that aims to combine politics and Christendom under the mantle of prophetic inspiration. The New Apostolic Reformation, or NAR, aims to establish a new branch of Christianity that makes contemporary prophets and apostles central to the faith. NAR also explicitly aims to establish a kingdom of Christ on Earth, gaining as much temporal power as possible. The term emerged out of a 1996 conference of five hundred evangelical leaders in Pasadena, California. It was coined by a white-bearded theologian, C. Peter Wagner, who publicly espoused a vision of all-encompassing spiritual warfare. In 2011, he told NPR's Terry Gross that the tsunami that had engulfed Japan and threatened it with nuclear disaster had arisen because Japan's emperor had had sexual congress with a demonic sun goddess. Prophets, ministers, and evangelists who support NAR's principles, along with those of similar movements, have embedded themselves deeply within the Republican Party.

Another place you can learn about C. Peter Wagner is in this documentary on YouTube, which I described:
