What they don't reveal is that detransition as a political distancing from "gender ideology" is a construct from the 2010s. It's the brainchild of a tiny, often-invisible TERF network that filled a void when trans & trans-positive de/retrans & questioning spaces began to vanish.

I think it’s worth noting exactly why virtually all anti-trans detransitioners are women. This is because they fit better into the transphobe narrative that trans men are poor misled young lesbians; and the patriarchal idea that women are foolish and unable to make decisions.

Trans people, medically speaking, have never had the chance to define gender dysphoria on our terms.
btw I despise the "cis men can get gynecomastia surgery without being pathologized!" argument. gynecomastia is commonly experienced by fat men, men w hormone "imbalances", and men who were put on antipsychotics in childhood (risperdal most famously). such non-pathologized groups!
